With the start of the Taste of Angus Festival this Saturday, a series of A Taste of Angus recipe cards featuring delicious, locally-produced ingredients has just been launched.
Each of the 12 cards provides a step-by-step guide to making a dish created by a local Angus food producer, from Smoked Wild Salmon and Dill Tartlets courtesy of Usan Salmon Fisheries to North Street Dairy’s Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Other recipe cards feature Isabella’s Preserves’ Hot Banana Chicken recipe, Arbroath Smokies Direct explaining how to make Stuart’s Smokie Fishcakes and chocolatier Johanna Woodhead of 88 Degrees revealing the secret of her fabulous Heather Honey and Star Anise Truffles. Award-winning Newtyle butchers J Pirie & Son have supplied a tasty recipe featuring their championship haggis - Haggis Lasagne whilst other dishes available are Mackay’s recipe for Mrs Bridges’ Steak Sandwich, Delicious Fresh Strawberry Tarts courtesy of Charleton Fruit Farm, Venison Casserole from Cameron’s in Forfar, Fruit Scones from Peel Farm, Quick Strawberry Towers from Angus Soft Fruits and Gordon’s of Inverkeilor’s recipe for Baked Fillet of Hake.
The cards are available from participating businesses, self-catering outlets, B&Bs, caravan parks, Visitor Information Centres, libraries and www.atasteofangus.com
