Angus South MSP Graeme Dey is encouraging TSB customers in the Kirriemuir area to drop into the local branch to discuss options for future banking ahead of its closure in late June.
The parliamentarian met TSB officials in Edinburgh on Thursday to discuss the decision to close the branch and the impact that will have, particularly on older customers.
Mr Dey said: “It was a constructive meeting as regards how the bank will engage with customers to manage the impact of the decision.
“Disappointingly however, there is, owing to footfall at the branch, no prospect of it being reversed.
“Recognising that we are where we are, however regrettable that is, I welcome the fact that additional staff are being deployed in Kirriemuir in the short term to work with customers around how they will be able to carry our transactions in future.
“These options include moving online, making use of the closest branch in Forfar and utilising services offered through the local Post Office.
“I would encourage any customers who have yet to have that conversation, to pop into the branch and explore their options.”
