The fourth year practical engineering craft skills class from Forfar Academy recently took a tour of Ross and Bonnyman’s Forfar premises.
Teacher Bob Baldie and his class were shown around the factory by operations manager Sandy Murray.
Mr Murray provided a tour of the computer-aided design office and the factory which was in full production of ambulance and mezzanine lifts.
The boys were given a fascinating insight into Ross and Bonnyman’s new high tech CNC Lathes and plasma cutter, as well as their more traditional welding and finishing equipment.
Mr Baldie explained that the Design Technology Department at Forfar Academy offers courses that form a good platform for careers at all levels in the Engineering and construction industries.
He said: “Our department use the same ‘Pro Engineer’ 3D software as Ross and Bonnyman and the CNC file formats are also the same.
“I feel that at Forfar Academy we are really bridging the gap between education and industry.”
