GUIDE Dogs has received a massive cash boost following a successful fund-raising event at the Forfar training centre.
A ladies night was held recently which included a number of stalls and a fashion show, and in total some £3,167.12 was raised. Guests were treated to wine and crepes served by appropriately attired “butlers”, whilst the latest fashions from M & Co were on display by volunteer models, the youngest being only 18 months old. Committee member Gillian Davidson acted as compere for the evening. A variety of stalls sold items from hand-made corsages and cushions to hand-bags and hats. There was a hairdressing demonstration as well as a separate area displaying art work. The evening included a successful raffle and there were two top prizes in the “lucky ticket” draw. The first - a weekend with a Peugeot RC 2 car - was won by Jodie Jolly, whilst the star prize of a stunning white gold, diamond ring, kindly donated by Stephen Henderson the Jewellers, was won by Moira Sutherland. Jane Bruce, manager of the Dundee jeweller’s, was on hand to present the top prize to Gordon Smith, Guide Dogs business support manager, who accepted the prize on Moira’s behalf.
