A FORFAR optician is thanking customers for contributing to a successful collection of more than 500 old books in support of a local charity.

The Specsavers store in Castle Street, Forfar, has been collecting books for the Ninewells Hospital charity shop, Keyhole Kate, since World Book Day (March 3).

The proceeds raised by these book sales will be donated to the Tayside NHS Board Endowment Fund.

The fund supports NHS hospitals and services across Tayside.

Blair Michie, store director at Specsavers in Forfar, says: “The generosity of our customers has been incredible.

“The scheme has been so popular that we will continue to collect books for the Keyhole Kate Shop.”
