The best and bonniest of the county’s blooming and green spaces will be celebrated at the Beautiful Angus Garden Competition awards ceremony at the Reid Hall, Forfar, this Friday (September 23).
Entries came in from tenants, schools and licensed premises all of a wonderfully high standard and deserving of recognition.
Depute Provost Alex King and Councillor Jeanette Gaul, vice-convener of communities, will present gold and silver awards to green-fingered tenants from Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Monifieth and Montrose.
Primary schools that took part in the competition will all receive a certificate and the overall winner will be awarded the Provost’s Quaich.
A trophy will also be awarded to the winning licensed premises.
The Local Authority’s Pride in Place members’ group will also be presenting the communities award in recognition of one of a number of excellent local community projects.
Judging was carried out by Angus Council’s parks services officers and community judges in July.
Guest speaker at the event is Nicola Turner, Keep Scotland Beautiful community projects officer.
The council’s new Tenant Participation Strategy will also be launched at the event.
