Youngsters from Kirriemuir community group DD8 Music have chosen to back a local animal sanctuary in their latest fund-raising venture.

The group is hosting a gig at Buskers in Dundee next Wednesday, July 22 to raise cash for the Mountains Animal Sanctuary in Glen Ogil.

The sanctuary rescues horses and donkeys from poor living conditions and abuse, giving them a safe and comfortable home.

Founded in 1984 by the late Alan Fraser, the facility is currently home to 85 rescued horses, ponies and donkeys which are accommodated in more than 220 acres of paddocks and woodlands.

The charity was placed on a surer footing last year after merging with Redwings Horse Sanctuary, the country’s biggest haven for horses, and now operates under the name of Redwings Mountains.

More information about the sanctuary can be found at

The line-up for the evening consists of local acts Curtis Stroud, The Blend, Sonnet 65, Vote for Lust and Around 7.

Doors will open at 7pm and tickets, costing £5, are available on the door or by contacting DD8 Music and the bands who will be performing. Further details can be found online at
