Ernie Hood from Arbroath Sports Centre was named the Angus Council indoor sports facilities employee of the year at a ceremony at the Kirriemuir Town Hall last Wednesday (July 18).
Ernie received the award for his outstanding service at Arbroath Sports Centre and was voted for by staff and customers through a text message competition, where he received over 26% of the total votes cast.
The facility of the year award was made to Brechin Leisure Centre.
Making the awards, Convener of Neighbourhood Services, Councillor Donald Morrison, said: “I am delighted to congratulate Ernie Hood for his achievement in being chosen as employee of the year in our indoor leisure facilities.
“In Angus, we are fortunate to have some excellent sporting and leisure facilities which provide for people of all ages and abilities. The hard work and dedication of our staff is crucially important in making these facilities run efficiently.
“I offer my congratulations, not only today’s winners, but to all the employees who play their part in ensuring the successful running of our leisure facilities.”
The other nominated members of staff were: Lorraine Strachan (Brechin Leisure Centre), Gillian Carlin (Carnoustie Leisure Centre), Steven Funai (Forfar Swimming Pool), Katrina Balfour (Lochside Leisure Centre), Alison Robbie (Montrose Sports Centre), Scott Milling (Montrose Swimming Pool), Natalea Swankie (Saltire Leisure Centre), Brian Keay (Websters Sports Centre).
