THERE was mid-afternoon drama at a house in Taranty Road, Forfar, on Monday.
Armed officers became involved in a 45-minute stand-off following a serious domestic incident.
Several occupants of the house were guided to a ‘safe haven’ within the property, isolating a male occupant within the building.
After negotiations the 52-year-old male was arrested.
It was around 3.50 pm on Monday when police were called to the house. At the height of the incident there were nine police vehicles in attendance, along with a police van, an ambulance and an ambulance car.
Police advised neighbours to lock their doors and remain inside during the incident, with the immediate vicinity taped off.
A police spokesperson explained that officers responded to a report of a domestic incident.
As a result, police mounted a full-scale operation, deploying the tactical firearms unit, dogs unit, road policing and the beat section.
The priority was to ensure the safety of all those involved.
