Angus successes

The local community planning teams, set up throughout Angus in April this year have achieved successes in a wide variety of projects and initiatives.

At a recent meeting of the council’s neighbourhood services committeee, convener Jim Millar said: “I commend the efforts of the community planning teams throughout Angus.

“A good deal of useful work is being undertaken in all our communities, facilitated and supported by the local community planning teams.

“By working in partnership with community groups, organisations and individuals, our teams are helping to make our communities safe, secure and vibrant.”

Key local achievements included:

Kirriemuir; assisted with successful JM Barrie celebrations and Neverland play park legacy; acted as a liaison to establish a BMX track; assisted the establishment of a mountain bike centre in Glenisla.

Forfar: community needs appraisals in Padanaram and Viewmount; supported tenants’ groups; assistance with business listing and What’s On leaflets.

Brechin: assisting to achieve Fair Trade status for the town; working on litter issues; assistance for proposal for all-weather pitch; collaborative projects to promote the town; promoting use of community flat.
