Angus Council send a reminder to blue badge holders

Changes to the blue badge scheme.

Angus Council would like to remind Blue Badge holders that changes to the scheme were introduced by the UK Government last year.

As the badge lasts for a period of between 12 months and three years, some residents may be unaware of the changes to the scheme.

All badges are now issued centrally for Scotland and not by individual local authorities.

Angus Council continues to administer the scheme and assess all Blue Badge applications. The charge will remain at £20.00 and be free for a child.

Blue Badges have been redesigned to make them harder to tamper with, copy or forge.

In addition to the new design, applicants will also have to complete a new style application form, which is larger and gathers more detail.

Applicants can also apply online at: www.bluebadgescotland.org

Applicants received under the discretionary route should allow 28 working days for their application to be assessed to take account of the possibility of an independent mobility assessment.

Further information is available at ACCESS offices or by telephoning the Council’s ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778.
