Angus Care and Repair here to help

Angus Care and Repair can provide an energy tariff check for people in Angus.

Training for this was arranged by Angus Council Trading Standards and Care and Repair quickly subscribed knowing that many of their client group do not have internet access and therefore find it more difficult to get the necessary information to decide whether to change their tariff.

Angus Care and Repair Manager, Judith Leslie, explained: “Many older and disabled people could really benefit from investigating possible savings. From our experience speaking with older peoples groups it does appear that older householders are less likely to have changed their energy providers.

“In addition it is often our older and disabled householders who spend more of their time in their home and therefore need affordable warmth. We would like to encourage our client group to come to us to investigate possible savings. This is completely confidential and there is no push to make a decision. With the cold weather and money having to stretch further it is important to consider any ways of saving money and keeping warm that we can.”

Care and Repair have targeted people in Forfar, Kirriemuir, Brechin and Montrose to date but are still able to take more referrals as they are able to offer the energy tariff check in your own home due to funding for equipment from British Gas Energy Trust. They will next be targeting Arbroath people.

Councillor David May, said: “I would urge everyone to take advantage of this vital service which can substantially reduce your outgoings. We are very pleased that this service has developed in Angus.”

In order to refer yourself for a home visit please call Lorraine or Helen on 01307 463232. One of the officers will visit you at home and provide you with options available. This is a completely free service for over 60 year olds or disabled people of any age.
