Asda Forfar is celebrating after their Community Life Champion, Andrea Logan, was honoured at a Scottish Parliament reception for her commitment to volunteering and fund-raising for local community groups and charities in the area.

Andrea was invited to a celebration event in the Scottish Parliament Garden Lobby as annual volunteering and fund-raising figures for the Asda Community Life programme were announced.

Andrea was delighted to meet with her local MSP Nigel Don to celebrate the achievements made in Angus and across Scotland.

The event was held in partnership with Scottish Business in the Community, which last year made Asda their Large Company of the Year for the Community Life programme.

Margaret Burgess MSP, the Scottish Government Minister with responsibility for Communities, made a keynote speech.

As part of Andrea’s role as Community Life Champion, she has been doing everything from teaching primary school children about healthy eating to picking up litter, serving teas and coffees to the patients at the local hospice, working alongside local foodbanks and supporting an Early Years Group for new mums.

Andrea said: “It was an absolute honour to be invited to meet with our local MSP Nigel Don and have Asda’s Community Life programme recognised in the Scottish Parliament in this way. I’m so proud of what our colleagues and customers have achieved for Forfar and the surrounding area over the last year. Community Life is about bringing people together to do what’s best for our local area, building relationships and giving time. By working with our local politicians we can do even more for the community, and I’m delighted to have their support.”
