A delighted Kirriemuir Relay for Life committee handed over a whopping sum of £182,670 to Louise Robertson of Cancer Research UK last Sunday.
The presentation included a preview of the video filmed during this year’s Relay for Life and a chance to see a substantial selection of the photographs that were professionally taken during the event.
The Kirriemuir Relay for Life took place at Kirriemuir Show Ground on August 13 and 14 this year.
Over the course of the 24-hour event, 39 teams of between eight and 15 people of all ages, levels of fitness and walks of life took part in the overnight fundraising festival.
Keith Hopkins, volunteer chair, Kirriemuir Relay For Life Committee, said: “Kirriemuir Relay For Life is a community event which brings together so many people from in and around the local area.
“As well as the 550 team members who walked, ran and even skipped round the track for 24 hours on August 13/14, we’d like to thank all survivors, sponsors and spectators - and all those who donated bags of unwanted clothing or household goods.
“The cheque presentation highlighted just how committed the people of Kirriemuir are to helping Cancer Research UK’s vital cancer-beating work.”
