ON our Facebook page this week some of our readers got in touch to ask why some Christmas lights advertising boards still feature long defunct local businesses.
Lynne Tyrie said: “I am disgusted to see some of the Forfar Christmas lights that are up in the town centre are advertising some shops and bars that are no longer trading and that some of the local shops and pubs that are trading are not recognised.
“I think this is very unfair for the local traders who have paid for their advertising many years ago to go on Christmas lights for their hometown.
“The council cant get it right once again.
“Maybe they should look at the advertising before they take the lights out of the store for next year.
A spokesperson for Angus Council said: “We rely on local people and members of the community council to let us know if any company, whose advertising boards form part of the Christmas lighting display, is no longer trading.
“We are happy to take down any boards if we receive this information.”
