Music fans turned out in their thousands on Saturday for the welcome return of the Glamis Prom concert to the county’s entertainment calendar.
A warm welcome awaited West End and Broadway superstar Elaine Paige, who headlined the event, as well as special guest Susan Boyle who were a popular pairing to help bring back the prom after a three-year absence.
Heavy rain throughout Friday cast doubt on whether or not the show would go ahead, but clear weather on Saturday as well as strenuous efforts throughout the night by the production team and Glamis Castle staff meant that the show could go on.
The weather cleared up during Saturday, however, and the soft conditions underfoot failed to dampen the spirits of revellers who, from early evening, arrived at the castle grounds determined to enjoy their pre-show picnics and enjoy the unique Glamis atmosphere.
A feast of entertainment from the two singing stars as well as the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and Angus’s own Norman Bowman was in store.
