This year sees the Angus Tayside Association of Young Farmers Clubs celebrate its 75th Anniversary - a landmark for the organisation.
This milestone will be marked with a summertime barbecue dance taking place on Saturday, July 20, 7 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. in the Strathmore Hall, Forfar Mart.
This is being planned as a relaxed evening, where folk can catch-up with those friends they haven’t seen for some time. The music for the evening will be provided by Wayne Robertson and his band.
Scrapbooks from Arbroath, Brechin, Forfar, South Angus and Strathmore clubs will be on display, allowing attendees to reminisce of those events long forgotten.
It is also hoped to display the district trophies but unfortunately some of these have been misplaced in recent years. These include the Bibby Individual Stockjudging trophy, the Curling trophy, the Girls Foursomes trophy and the Cabaret Trophies.
The association would like to have these back in use, but investigations have drawn a blank so they would be pleased to hear from anyone who can shed light on their whereabouts.
The past chairmen and secretaries of the association have been written to and have been asked to order their tickets by Friday, June 7. Tickets have been selling well and now the invitation is extended to everyone involved in the District Association in the past 75 years.
Tickets are priced at £20 and can be reserved, to be collected on the night, by sending a cheque made payable to Angus Tayside Association of JACs, to District Treasurer Fiona Lawson, Abbeythune, Inverkeilor, Arbroath by Friday, July 5. Alternatively tickets can be purchased from the Angus Tayside stand at the Angus Show on Saturday, June 8.
Please call district secretary Elaine Henderson on 07732 967 684 if you have any information on trophies.
