This Saturday at the Forfar Farmers Market organisers are looking forward to a busy morning with lots of entertainment.
The market is holding its own berry festival with soft fruits being used in many different products; they will also be served as berry kebabs or with chocolate from the chocolate fountain at Norma’s jam stall.
You can enter the “Berry Bake Off”. All you need to do is take along your very own Berry Creation to be judged by STV’s news reader Lynne Rankin from Forfar, a regular at the Forfar market. Chef Hayley will judge the under 15 years’ junior section. There will be a colouring competition and a bouncy castle for the children and the market will have a fantastic range of food products and extra craft stalls with over 30 stalls attending. Resident chef Hayley will also be showing customers her recipe and techniques for making balsamic strawberry and venison kebabs. The “wee cookies” will also be using summer fruits in their regular cooking spot.
There will be some new stalls and exciting new foods including Caroline Allan from “Raw Food Good Food Good Feelings”.
Fresh vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet and Antonia from Myreside Organics will have a fantastic selection of handpicked salad bags, tasty broad beans, courgettes and mangetout. Louise from Isabella’s preserves will have some delicious salad dressings and will give a jam making demonstration. Alison from Angelica Laird Ltd. has her own confectionary business and is attending the Forfar market for the first time this month.
