A FORFAR couple had the wedding of their dreams last week after raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Last year, Sy Douglas and Hayley Anderson took part in the ‘Five Brides One Wedding’ competition as part of Radio Tay’s Cash for Kids initiative.
And they won after raising a whopping £8,190 over the 10 days that they had to complete the task.
To raise the money they ran a race night, quiz night and zumba night.
Forfar Tesco also very generously allowed the couple to stand outside the shop for five days to raise some extra funds from generous shoppers.
In addition to that they also did a car boot sale and their friends and colleagues did a number of sponsored events
There were three different leg waxing sessions. One of Hayley’s colleagues ate a kilogramme of Dairy Milk and another of her friends ate two jars of jalapeño chillies.
After winning the competition they set the date for April 19 and got down to planning the details for their big day.
The full wedding package, which amounted to around £10,000, was put together by a number of local businesses with the event itself taking place at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel.
The wedding package included a red carpet welcome, wedding ceremony room hire, an arrival drink for 50 guests, glass of house wine with three-course wedding meal, glass of sparkling wine to toast, overnight accommodation in Honeymoon Suite for the bride and groom and an evening buffet for 100 people.
Hayley was treated to her wedding dress from Diane Lynn Bridal Design, Dundee while Sy and his best man were kitted out by Highland Scene, Montrose.
Wedding rings were supplied by Lorraine Law, the cake from Goodfellows Cakes.
Other contributors to the big day included Bladez Hair & Beauty, Buth Tabhartas, Chairs & Graces, High Society, Godfrey Mordente, Dundee, Jas. Doig, Piper, the Elaine Stewart Band, the Gentleman’s Groom Room, Dundee and The Playwright, Dundee.
Sy said: “We would like to thank everyone who donated last year and gave to such a fantastic cause.
“And we would especially like to thank Tesco for letting us fund-raise outside the store for the better part of a week.”
The couple had a wonderful day and were married at Glamis Kirk.
