MRS Linda Gray welcomed members to the 97th annual general meeting of the Lowson Memorial Parish Church Guild and welcomed the Rev. Dr. Karen Fenwick who conducted the opening worship.
The Rev. Fenwick then gave a very interesting and thought provoking talk with slides/video clips of her recent visit to Bethlehem on behalf of the Church of Scotland to the Seminar “Christ at the Checkpoint (Hope in the midst of conflict)”.
Mrs Linda Gray proposed the vote of thanks.
Mrs Linda Stewart gave the president’s report, which highlighted a busy year so far for the 29 members on the theme “What does the Lord require of you” – Called to Walk Humbly with God – with a very entertaining/interesting syllabus.
Mrs Stewart thanked the Guild office-bearer’s and the committee members individually for their support, the members for being faithful and loyal and the many friends of the Guild who help and support the Guild coffee mornings.
Mrs Dorothy McSkimming then gave the treasurer’s report and it was agreed to distribute funds as follows:- £500 to the Lowson Memorial Parish Church General Fund; £500 to the Lowson Memorial Parish Church Outreach & Development Fund; £50.00 to each of the six Guild Projects - (Church of Scotland - Crossreach/Social Care Council – On the Other Side; HIV/Aids Project – A New Hunger (Various Countries); Ministries Council – A Place of Hope (UK); World Mission Council – Interfaith Support (Israel/Palestine): International Justice Mission – Terrify No More (Cambodia) and Mission Aviation Fellowship - Mission Run (Madagascar).
The office-bearers intimated that they would be keen to serve for another year and this was agreed by the members present.
Other business matters, including the annual trip were discussed.
