thursday, september 22 - sinderins, montrose folk club, links hotel, montrose, doors 7.30 pm

By popular demand, the Dundee Cult heroes are returning to play an acoustic set at Montrose Folk Club following upon their very successful concert in 2015.

The band at Montrose will feature the front line of no less than three exceptional singer songwriters in Stevie Anderson, Gavin McGinty and Dave Webster, together with Tom Barbour on bass guitar.

Sinderins will be playing live versions of the tracks from their new album alongside many crowd favourites.

Their music combines rootsy elements of blues, rock and country with ethereal vocal and instrumental soundscapes, creating a genre-defying sound.

Doors open at 7.30pm, with Sinderins on stage at 8pm. Entry: £9 payable at the door.

Talon presents a brand-new production of their award winning ‘Best of Eagles’. Talon are a phenomenon and have truly transcended the tag of ‘tribute’. They have become a brand name in their own right who are not only revered by their peers, respected by the music industry but dearly loved by their massive and expanding fan base that together have become a ‘family’. Back to Bacharach celebrates the magical music of Burt Bacharach, one of the most accomplished popular composers of the 20th Century, who together with Hal David penned some of the most memorable and iconic hits that stand the test of time. This exciting production is touring throughout the U.K. from September 2015 and is performed by the three of the finest west end singers accompanied by a live 10 piece band recreating Burt Bacharach’s timeless hits. Songs featured in the show include ‘Alfie’, ‘Anyone Who Had A Heart’, ‘Arthur’s Theme’, ‘Always Something There To Remind Me’, ‘Close To You’, ‘I Say A Little Prayer For You’, ‘24 Hours from Tulsa’, ‘Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head’ and many more. Saturday, September 17 to Saturday, October 15 - Doug Cocker, form and image, Meffan Gallery, Forfar

Primarily known for his sculpture Doug Cocker has, over a long career, maintained a prestigious output in a wide range of other disciplines: box constructions, drawing, print, photography and, increasingly over recent years, collage. This exhibition contains recent examples of work in all of these media, but principally it offers insight into the artist’s means of addressing diverse aspects of landscape and natural form; how elements of these are considered, distilled, manipulated and constructed to adopt a unique approach to resolved form and image. Doug is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and lectured in sculpture from the early 1970s to the late 1980s. He was elected Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1984.

The exhibition features around 20 different photographs from around the Angus area and abroad. This is Lisa’s first exhibition. The photographs are of local landscapes, a few sunrises and sunsets and a couple from Orlando in Florida.

Twenty per cent commission on all sales is donated to the Whitehills Arts & Environment Fund.
