There has been a claim that the recipe for Smiddy Loaf originated in Eassie.
The smiddy loaf is a fruit loaf, where the fruit is boiled in a pan first, then dry ingredients are added and the loaves are baked in the oven. This results in a delicious moist slicing loaf that keeps really well.
Angus bakers are being asked donate their favourite smiddy loaf recipe and smiddy loaves to the Macmillan Coffee morning to be held in Eassie Hall in Friday, September 28, from 10am to 12 noon.
At the Macmillian Coffee morning in Eassie, as well as enjoying coffee with delicious pancakes traybakes and smiddy loaves there will be bring and buy stall too. Donations of help and any plants, baking and produce will be most welcome on the day.
Children are being asked to bring £1 pocket money to donate in return for juice and pancakes.
