Visitors to Sunday’s Cortachy Games, to be held in the grounds of picturesque Cortachy Castle on Sunday, are reminded to take their camera with them.
In 2012 there will be adult and junior classes for best photograph of the games, with the possibility of the winning pictures being used on the website and/or for a postcard to be sold for society funds at the 2013 games.
The winning photo could be a shot of the main ring, the industrial tent, the auction, the duck race – or just something that shows what a good day out it is for everyone!
The games begin at 1 pm prompt on Sunday, with the heavy events and the field events starting concurrently, and that means that the children’s races start then.
To avoid disappointment, families are advised to arrive in good time.
There are plenty of other things going on during the afternoon, including the dog show (entries from 12.30 pm; judging starting at 1 pm), terrier racing, children’s fancy dress competition, the duck race and the auction of produce from the flower show.
The auction is not to be missed. In previous years, lots have included such diverse items as a “heaviest cabbage”, three cheese scones, a jar of jam and a bunch of dahlias. It’s all good fun, for a good cause.
