FORFAR Youth Club and Balwyllo Rangers, the two top sides in local amateur circles, qualified comfortably for the second round of the Nelson Cup on Saturday.

The results were Lochside Rovers 2, Forfar Youth Club 4; Canmore 0, Balwyllo Rangers 6.

The outcome of the third match has yet to be decided. Lowson United were leading Central comfortably at Lunanhead when the match was abandoned for rough play in the 77th minute.

LOCAL judo enthusiast Gilbert Forrest was a member of the Scottish team who defeated Wales by seven points to two at Port Talbot on Saturday.

At Midlothian open competition, Derek Mitchell was on the gold medal in the under 50kg section.

THE CREME de la creme of Scotland’s women footballers are to play in Forfar.

Station Park hosts the Scottish Women’s League Cup on Sunday, March 7.

The game was originally scheduled for December 20, but postponed because of the weather.

THE 1992/93 Darts league campaign is over, with Strathmore B successfully completing the season unbeaten in Reflections division one.

Fourteen straight wins saw them finish three points ahead of Canmore A.

FORFAR Athletic reserves drew 1-1 with Arbroath at Station Park last Monday night.

THERE is still much to play for a the top of the Forfar Pool League division one.

The Burns B could only manage a slender victory over the Town House A and that allowed TCs B to close the gap at the top to two points with the TCs A also very much in contention.

THE ANGUS All Blacks progressed to the last four of the under 15 Scottish Cup, following a narrow 10-7 win away to Caithness.

With a semi-final place secured, the long bus trip home was more than animated with the boys in a celebratory mood.

A WONDERFUL Paul Tosh hat-trick wasn’t enough to secure all three points for Forfar Athletic on a real roller-coaster of an afternoon at Station Park on Saturday.
