Latest from Writers’ Circle

Hamish McNiven, a committee member of the Angus Writers’ Circle was the adjudicator of the circle’s first competition of 2014.

The subject was ‘A Childhood Holiday’.

As it was an exercise in flash fiction members were restricted to a maximum of 250 words.

It was a real trip down memory lane for many of the members. The winners were: 1 ‘Full of Beans’ by Eleanor Fordyce; ‘Magic and (Missed) Romance’ by Jan Strickland; ‘Marietta Meets Calvin’ by Grace Murray

Hamish was pleased to present the Fireball, the circle’s competition trophy, to Eleanor.

After the presentation members had the opportunity to read their entries and talk briefly about their holiday memories.

The president, David Wren, gave the vote of thanks to Hamish for his work in judging the scripts.

The Angus Writers’ Circle meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 7.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Rosely Hotel, Arbroath.

New members are always welcome.
