Brechin Castle’s garden was looking wonderful when the Forfar Garden Club came to visit.
The rain stopped, the wind died down, and it really felt like spring.
The gardens are famed for their their rhododendrons and azaleas. It is a wonderful collection. With many of them in full bloom, it was fantastic to see so much colour in the garden.
The glass houses were filled with the sweet perfume of the tender rhododendrons, especially Rhododendron Dalhousieae, named after one of the earl’s ancestors.
Head gardener, Laura Keenan, gave the club members a guided tour. As well as being extremely knowledgeable, Laura was very entertaining with anecdotes about her life as a professional gardener.
The garden club organises a series of outings during the summer.
