Rep backs Fairy Box appeal

DUNDEE Rep Theatre is supporting this year’s Fairy Box Christmas appeal and will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys, books and games for children of all ages during the festive period.

The Fairy Box appeal provides gifts for children who are spending time in hospital and was launched on Midsummer’s day 2005.

The charity was set up by Aimee and Rosie Butler after Aimee had spent long spells in hospital as a child.

The Fairy Box appeal helps bring a little joy and happiness when things are difficult for children in hospital.

A Fairy Box is filled with donated gifts and kept on the children’s ward in hospitals where parents and medical staff have access to a gift to brighten up the day of a child in need of a lift to help them on the road to recovery.

Fairy Box gift boxes have a magic of their own in helping children who are ill in hospital not just at Christmas time but all year round.

Fairy box has provided a life-line of support and encouragement to many sick children and have now been established in Ninewells in Dundee and hospitals in Perth, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy.

Donations can be handed into box office staff at the theatre and will all be greatly received and much appreciated.

Rosie Butler said: “Fairy Box and Dundee Rep Theatre have forged a special partnership over the last few years especially during their Christmas shows.

“We are hugely appreciative of the opportunity they give patrons to help our toy appeal at this time of year. Gifts which arrive fresh from the fun of a magical night at the theatre bring an extra sprinkle of magic with them when they arrive on the children’s ward at Ninewells Hospital”.
