MUSICIANS OF NOTE AT DUNDEE BLUES FESTIVAL
THE Dundee Blues Bonanza takes place this weekend over three days and in 30 city centre venues.
Pioneered and successfully developed over the last 14 years by a voluntary committee, it has been nurtured from modest beginnings to its present level, which includes a very healthy international element.
The Big Bonanza launch party will be held on Friday, June 26 in Dexters, Castle Street from 7.30 pm.
International music will be provided by Jimmy C (Canada) and The Blue Dragons, The Blue Stripes, who are Australian, singer Kitto with her American drummer Bill Bryant, The Flaming Stratmen, fronted by Werner (Germany) and one man band Nikolaj Andersen from Denmark plus Australian Boogie Piano Jan Preston.
The Junior Bonanza this year is a co-ordinated effort between several factions and is hosted by Dick Wardell. It will be held in Dexters, Castle Street on Sunday, June 28 where there are all the facilities for youngsters along and to be involved.
Internationally renowned photographer Dave Peabody's exhibition is scheduled to be held in The Chamber of Commerce, Panmure Street. Dave's theme will be blues festivals around Britain, and he is calling it UK Blues Now.
A Blues Workshop will be held at 11 am on Saturday in Social, South Tay Street.
By popular demand this year there will be not one, but two acoustic summit venues where all acoustic players can play together. These will be in Ogstons in North Lindsay St and Deacon Brodies in Ward Road.
