KIRRIE DATE FOR ODI
THE beginning of 2010 has been hectic for the Bank Street Gallery in Kirriemuir.
Freya Cumming's fabulous print show has been well received and the wonderful local artist Peter Flynn will have his work exhibited at the gallery from March 20.
The acoustic sessions at the gallery continue to excel with an exciting evening promised to mark St Patrick's Day with a special guest artist from Ireland.
Jagged Roots will continue their series of 'literally unplugged' shows in the intimate surroundings of the Bank Street Gallery, on the weekend after St Patrick's Day when ODi kicks off her Scottish tour at the Kirriemuir gallery on March 19.
The audience is invited to 'bring their own bottle' (and cushion if they want a soft seat!)
Capacity at the gallery is only 24 and the intimate environment this creates is really beginning to have an impact in the industry as a venue with a difference - not to mention the fact that the gigs are always completely acoustic.
ODi, who is currently tipped in the "Vodaphone/Myspace Top 5 to watch for 2010", brings her enchanting songs to Scotland throughout March for a tour which pre-empts the UK release of her album 'Maslow's Songbook', which will be released in August.
The album has been produced by Karl Odlum who has previously produced Fionn Regan and The Frames.
Her admirers include the likes of Luka Bloom, Fionn Regan, Paddy Casey and SSSeth Lakeman who gave her a special invitation to perform with him at Beverley Folk Festival.
The Kirriemuir show will be her first Scottish date on the tour and falls immediately after she performs with iconic Irish songwriter Luka Bloom in Dundalk.
Having played at Ireland's premier boutique festival "Electric Picnic" ODi's gaining a rapidly growing fanbase, with festivals all over Europe now booking her.
A live performance on The BBC Late Show is scheduled for shortly after the Kirriemuir gig and her song 'You Win But You Lose' is the theme music on RTE drama 'The Clinic' in Ireland.
As the gallery show has very limited tickets available it's advised to book well in advance.
ODi will be performing on Friday, March 19 at the Bank Street Gallery, Kirriemuir, doors 7 pm.
Tickets are 10 - contact 01575 570070.
