Kirriemuir Round Table is once more planning for its Bonfire and Firework Display which takes place this Saturday evening on Kirrie Hill.

This event is one of the few local, independently financed and run, bonfires and displays left in a town of Kirrie’s size and the organisation involves a great deal of planning and bureaucracy.

Due to work and other constraints of the members of the Round Table, this year’s event was almost cancelled.

Then Kirrie Rotary, and the ladies from the town’s Regeneration Group, stepped in to help and the event is now back on track and ready to go ahead.

Neil Entwistle, Round Table chairman, said: “Mo and Jenni from the KRG and Mike Kiely from the Rotary Club have done a fantastic job in helping with the organisation this year.

“We are also helped a great deal by local group DD8 Music and also local businesses in providing much needed equipment on the night.

“This work, together with the almost £2000 we are spending on the firework display, should make this year’s event a great evening out.

“Please come along, enjoy the music and fireworks, and don’t forget to bring some money to make a donation on the gate so that we can keep this going on well into the future.

“The event starts at 5pm with live music with the bonfire lit at 6 pm.”
