THE annual competitive exhibition of work and flowering bulbs of Angus SWRI was staged in the Reid Hall, Forfar on Friday and Saturday.
Once again the various classes were keenly contested, attracting over one thousand entries all told, and the main trophy-winners were as follows:-
Babington Challenge Cup (most points overall), winners - Tealing, runners-up - Cortachy; Pate Challenge Cup (most points larger institutions), winners - Tealing, runners-up Kingsmuir; Murray Cup (most points smaller institutions), winners - Cortachy, runners-up Logie Pert.
Housewives Cup (most points Housewives Section) - Cortachy.
Handcrafts Cup (most points Handcrafts Section) - Tealing.
Lawrie Cup (most points Embroidery Classes) - Tealing.
Drumgeith Cup (larger institutes Co-op section) - Inverkeilor.
Guilds Cup (smaller institutes Co-op section) - Newtyle.
H&H Guilds Cup (Institute with most points in senior members classes) - Cortachy.
Bulbs Cup (larger institutes bulbs) - Menmuir.
Cuthbert Shield (smaller institutes bulbs) - Cortachy.
Fairlie Salver (individual with the most points in senior members classes) - Isobel Law, Logie Pert.
Mary Wyllie Trophy (overall best entry in art classes) - Marian MacDonald, Cortachy.
Caroline Lang Perpetual Salver (best overall bowl of bulbs) - Elsie Nicoll, Memus and Fern.
Chairmans Choice (chairman’s choice of best item on show) - Violet Ritchie, Carmyllie for Canvaswork Cushion.
