Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative in partnership with Angus council is proud to present this year’s Skirdechal - Angus Schools Folk Concert and Ceilidh.

Talented Primary and Secondary pupils from all over Angus will be performing at the event.

This concert will take place in the Wellbank Village Hall on Friday, June 21 from 7.30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.).

Members who have left school will be coming back to help tutor and accompany their younger friends.

Last year the group released their own CD called ‘Folk On The Water’ which is available from itunes, Amazon, record shops and The Jewellery Workshop in Kirriemuir.

On Monday nights throughout the school year, the group meets in Forfar to learn traditional tunes by ear, along with skills for arranging, playing in sessions and for dancing. They also have a lot of fun and make great friends.

The long term goal is to encourage traditional music making among the young people of Angus by continuing these activities.

Generous raffle prizes have been kindly donated by local businesses, Vintage Strings (a set of premium violin strings and a book) and Kenny’s music (a Ukulele), along with Skirdechal’s own CD and hoodie.

All proceeds from the concert, raffle and CD sales all go towards the future of the group.

Tickets are available to reserve from through Claire at Angus Council on 01307 473847 and will also be available on the door.
