Sir,
I am appalled to see that Forfar has allowed an animal circus to come to the Myre - right on my front doorstep. I can see it from my bedroom window!
In our supposed civilised world this type of exploitation of animals must be banned.

Now is the time for each of us to demonstrate our opposition to this backward and cruel form of "entertainment" by voting with our feet.

This circus uses a v
ariety of animals during its performances, from horses and ponies to dogs and budgies. There can be no doubt that the strain of constantly moving from town to town along with the stress of being forced to perform is absolutely unnatural and abnormal for these animals.

When combined with confinement and captivity it is no wonder why so many people oppose what can justifiably be described as cruelty for entertainment.

Advocates for Animals have a long history of campaigning against all forms of animal cruelty and exploitation and I'm proud to support them in taking a stand against animal circuses. I urge you to do so too.

There are many travelling circuses that do not involve animals, and these wonders of human performance are the ones that deserve our support.

Yours etc.,
Iris Miller,
Forfar (supplied by email).
