BELLEVUE Rendezvous will appear as the guests at Montrose Folk Club in the usual venue of the Links Hotel, Mid Links, Montrose next Tuesday, (February 2) at 8 pm.
Bellevue Rendezvous are led on fiddle by Gavin Marwick, formerly of Iron Horse and currently a member of the Unusual Suspects.
They are an acoustic trio featuring an unusual combination of instruments. Their music is vibrant, original, dynamic and exciting.
In addition to Gavin Marwick on fiddle, the members of the band are Cameron Robson on bouzouki and other stringed instruments and Ruth Morris on nyckelharpa. In their current repertoire, they have many original tunes, as well as music from Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Macedonia, Poland, Canada and Sweden.
The band, which formed in 2006, released their first album, called "Tangents" in May 2007. They will be launching their second album on Thursday, January 28 at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, just prior to their appearance at the Montrose Club.
Gavin Marwick is one of the leading fiddle players on the Scottish folk scene over the past 20 years. He has performed at hundreds of festivals, concerts, theatres and dances throughout the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
In addition to Iron Horse and the Unusual Suspects, Gavin has also been a member of other bands such as Journeyman, Cantrip, Burach, the dance band, Ceilidh Minogue and a successful fiddle duo with Jonny Hardie, of The Old Blind Dogs, which has released two albums.
Ruth Morris is a multi-talented musician, teacher and collector of tunes. In addition to whistle and piano, she also plays nyckelharpa, a very unusual but delightful instrument.
Cameron Robson, now also a member of Cantrip, originally played in rock bands. His playing of bouzouki and guitar displays a power and drive originally learned from playing R&B.
Everyone is welcome at Montrose Folk Club next Tuesday for the first appearance in Montrose of Bellevue Rendezvous. The doors at the Links Hotel will be open at 7.30 pm with the band onstage at 8 pm
