THIS year's Neworks production at The Space at Dundee College is among one of the biggest-ever staged – with 20 HND contemporary dance students performing in 12 separate dance pieces.
No stranger to The Space, Angus Balbernie has returned to direct the production, which sees students both choreographing pieces and appearing in dances created by their classmates.
Once again, the guest lecturer has managed to include a few innovations for this year's production.
"We have ten live pieces but Neworks will open and close with two discrete filmed pieces," commented the internationally-renowned choreographer.
"As well as framing the live pieces with the filmed ones at beginning and end we also have a really fun live piece taking place in the foyer during the interval."
Along with swing, the 12 choreographers use a mixture of rock, pop and classical music. Some have even asked Angus for help to compose original 'soundscapes' to work with.
Neworks takes place on Friday and Saturday, March 12 and 13, curtain at 7.30pm, bar opens 7pm. Tickets (£6 and £4 conc) available from The Space Box Office phone (01382) 834934.
