FORFAR Dramatic Society held its annual general meeting last week.
Retiring president Graham Hewitson stated the past year had been another busy one for the Society and that much had been done and achieved.
He highlighted the two very contrasting main stage productions – the taut spy drama, Pack of Lies and the ever popular TV adaptation for the stage of 'Allo 'Allo.
Both productions were performed to a high standard however the former play attracted less than two hundred paying customers while the latter attracted over five hundred, underlining the fact that unless a play is well known or Scottish, audiences are likely to suffer.
Mr Hewitson also stated the Society had given technical help to a number of local organisations including Rising Young Stars and Aberlemno Primary school.
In concluding his annual address to members, he challenged the organisation to work together to strengthen Forfar Dramatic Society and help it to continue to make significant contributions to community life.
He also thanked all members and particularly the hard working committee for their efforts over the past three years of his tenure as president.
Both Alice Ross and Winnie Brown were unanimously elected Honorary Presidents of the Society. Alice has been a member since 1965 and has served as president, secretary and treasurer at various times over the period, while Winnie, also a long standing member of the society, has served as resident and is currently the society's treasurer, a post she has held for a number of years.
The following office bearers were elected for the forthcoming session.
