TWO days of mixed weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the many who attended the 34th Scottish Transport Extravaganza, staged by Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club in the picturesque grounds of Glamis Castle over the weekend.
Visitors to the showground on the Saturday were greeted by rain and grey skies, but Sunday's weather was much better, enabling people to flock to what is regarded as the premier event of its kind in this part of Scotland.

Throughout the day there was an opportunity to view around 1000 exhibits - vintage cars and motorcycles, together with steam engines, commercial and military vehicles of a bygone age.

In addition, the event also attracts 150 stands, comprising autojumble, motor trade, antiques, fund-raising and a craft tent, where you could see craft people making their own goods, while there was an opportunity to win a 1996 MGF in a raffle.

The extravaganza is very much a family event and this year's attraction provided something a little bit different for the visitors to enjoy - the Scottish terrier racing team entertaining the crowd with their skills and dog training/stunt expertise.

The award for the best motorcycle in the show went to D. Drummond (1936 Norton 50), while the best car trophy was won by W. Sangster (1949 Bentley Mk 6).

The best commercial vehicle was entered by A. & C. Tait (1929 Austin 7 Light Van) and the best in show award was clinched by W. Jardine (1938 MG VA Tickford).

The best Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club member award went to D. Stewart (1931 Royal Enfield).
