Cardiac group’s anniversary gift

MEMBERS of the Angus Cardiac Group met last month to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its inception.

They attended an anniversary ball in the Park Hotel, Montrose, where four cheques totalling £800 were handed out.

Over 100 members and guests attended the evening.

The group started in 1992 with a membership of 13 and now has 313 members.

At the ball a celebratory cake was cut by three founder members - Tom Brighton, Agnes Mitchell and Rhonda Hannah. Tom went on to speak about the progress the group had made over the last 20 years and thanked those who had helped along the way.

Gordon Snedden, the current chairman of the group, later spoke about the progress the group had made over the past year in helping those in Angus with cardiac and other conditions before outlining their plans for the future.

Donations totalling £800 were then made to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS), the Cardiac Unit at Ninewells Hospital, Scottish Heart and Arterial Disease Risk Prevention (SHARP) and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
